I won, I won! You should be jealous.

I was a fantastic mother today. I actually won the Mother of the Year Award, again. I know you are jealous so let me tell you how it is done. First, tell your child that it is Rodeo day at his school (that's a big deal in Houston). When he tells you he doesn't want to wear his western attire, tell him he doesn't have a choice. Also, tell him that all his friends will be wearing their clothes and he will be only one that won't look "cute". Second, take away all his toys so that he will put on the clothes that you know he will look so cute in. Be sure to take a lot of pictures of him and of course, make him S-M-I-L-E! Next, drive him to his school and talk about all the fun things they are going to do that day. Especially all the wonderful rodeo activities like riding the "horse" and tell him he is even going to have a "special" rodeo snack during snack time. When you get to the school, pretend like you don't know why everyone else isn't dressed like him. Think: They must not be lucky enough to have a fine pair of boots like him or their mommies weren't as great as me and didn't WANT to dress them cute. Once you realize that no one else got the "memo" about rodeo attire- whip out the oh so convenient pair of tennis shoes that were stashed in the car and untuck the shirt. Whippo, chang-o and things are perfect once again! Make sure you have just come from the gym so you smell wonderful and your hair is perfect and full of sweat. The teachers will especially think you have your life together and wonder how you do it all and of course, all the other mothers will be jealous.

So continue on your day and get really busy. When it's time to get your son, forget that he needs to be picked up at 2:00 p.m. instead of 3:00 p.m. Get to the school, apologize to all the hard working teachers and throw him into the car. Give him a snack and make sure that it is a healthy one- say, Dr. Pepper and cheetos. Race off to a Brownie event (make sure you are the leader) and then show up late. That's how it's done people. Easy, huh?
Finally, remember the day and how great it was by reviewing these pictures of my precious children.

Claire... you are so funny! I can just imagine your day! Oh well, Jackson looks so cute in all his cowboy things. And the pictures of Emma... I assume those are play glasses, or is she wearing glasses and I am just now realizing it??!!??
