fouth grade invention fair

Bailey celebrated the week before spring break as the Star Student in her fourth grade class. She came up with this poster and printed pictures and wrote about her favorite book, etc. and shared it with the class. This week was also the Invention Fair. This is the largest event for the 4th graders at Campbell Elementary. Bailey chose to invent a new cookie/candy. She called it "Yummy Gummy Burgers" and they turned out perfectly! I am including the recipe because they were really pretty yummy and a BIG hit with the students in her class. She was judged by a few teachers that went around and judged each students work. One student from Bailey's class won- but it wasn't Bailey. She was just fine with that- she really was proud of her work and that's all that she cared about. I have to agree!!

Here are the ingredients: Mini vanilla wafer, lifesaver gummie sours, vanilla chocolate- melted, parchment paper.Lay the vanilla wafers out on a cookie sheet ontop of the parchment paper.Melt the chocolate as directed on package. Brown chocolate would work just as well!Place a drop of chocolate ontop of the vanilla wafers and allow it to dry for about 5 minutes. This will help to provide the stability to place the "yummy gummy burgers" on top. This bottom cookie will not end up as part of the burger.Add the bottom vanilla wafer for the burger.Add the gummy life saver.Add the top layer to the burger.Cover with chocolate and allow to dry for approximately 20 minutes. Once they dry, break off the bottom cookie so that all you have is a "yummy gummy burger" completely covered in chocolate icing. Yummo!Bailey sure think so!!Bailey at school in front of her display board. Doesn't it look great?
One HAPPY girl...
